Hi, I'm Astrid, part-time artist and general tinkerer based in Pretoria, South Africa. By day I am a computational designer in architecture and engineering. With formal training in architecture and information science, I enjoy the nuances of illustration and tinkering within different mediums, analogue and digital.
What started as an annual hobby; drawing an image a day for an entire month, based on a single-word prompt has become a passion that I am eager to share with a growing audience. The major body of my work include fine art prints of all work ranging 2021-2024, as well as functional art including bookmarks, stickers and wrapping paper.
My preferred medium is ink on paper. As an avid Urban Sketcher in both Johannesburg and Pretoria, I find my art-making tools need to be robust, compact and available on the go.
